We arrived on Friday evening and had a quick drink at the train station with my friend Jamie and his two friends before heading off to the hostel. We met up with the Scotland crew (Brittany, Tyler, & Alex) and some of their significant others (Holly & Chad) for drinks at a place right around the corner from the hostel. Shout out to the engaged couple once again, Brittany & Chad! Congratulations! :)

It was a battle of the chest hairs that night!
Somewhat blurry picture of St. Paul's which was right around the corner from the hostel
Saturday consisted of a walk through Portobello Market. Portobello Road was covered in vendors selling antiques, clothes, food, etc. It was really neat to see and a tad overwhelming with all the people, not to mention when you threw in the fact that cars were trying to get down the street as well!
Had to take a picture of Jamie Oliver's place! :)
Later that evening Jamie and I met up with his parents at Westminster Abbey. We walked around London to a few places for drinks (Sherlock Holmes bar, a boat docked on the Thames, & a restaurant in Covent Garden) before settling down to watch Shakespeare's play of "As You Like It" in Covent Garden. The name Covent Garden has its origins dating back to the 13th century when it formed the site of the large kitchen garden for the Covent or Abbey of St. Peter at Westminster. The garden became a major source of fruit and vegetables in London. Now, Covent Garden has been regenerated into a place with shops and restaurants. Numerous events take place here including daily street performances and outdoor plays. The play was extremely funny and the dinner that followed was incredible...mmm rump of lamb!

Sunday was spent at the Payne's. A morning dog walk followed by a wonderful roast made by Mrs. Payne and the Wimbledon men's finals (Andy Murray v. Roger Federer) I had to say goodbye to my two favorite British parents after lunch and head back into London to meet up with Elise to catch our train. Jamie came along and we caught the last bit of the tennis final in a pub close by. I think all of England may have let out a tiny tear when Federer won. I myself even felt part of the GB nation that day, hoping Andy Murray would bring the title to England. I think Federer has won quite enough and needs to give someone else a turn!
Anyways, we were off to the train station, but before we could head back Jamie had Elise and I try a cornish pasty. Little hesitant to do so but.... it was delicious.
Thank you Payne family for a unique view of London that I wouldn't normally otherwise see! I had a wonderful weekend! :)
Thanks Margaret! We had a great time with you all in London. Wish we could've met up again Saturday night for a repeat. I love your blog! It makes ours pale in comparison.. hahaha
